Everytime I wander into the Best Denki at Great World City, my eyes are drawn to the Cisco Media Hub. Service at that place is dreadful, so I've never been able to get much more information than from the brochures next to the device. And with the hefty $500 price tag, I wasn't going to explore it any further.
Then just before Christmas, my laptop died on me. Absolutely no warning at all, it just shut down one morning. As it was just over a year old, ie very new and unlikely to have problems, nothing was backed up! Disaster! Fortunately the problem was minor. The fan had died. So when changed, everything was back to normal.
Nonetheless, I was terrified of losing all my data yet again. My old iMac decided to white screen on me, and all my old photos are lost. So the temptation to get the sexy Media Hub got the better of me and I hunted down the best deal at Funan last week.
Finally, I had the opportunity to fix it all up this morning. First I had to secure my wireless router, which cut me out of my home internet for a time... Then attempt to hook the media hub in.
Two hours later, the media's still being uploaded. But disaster... It only saves photos, music and videos. No documents! That explains why it's called a media hub... Duh...
Great! So now I still have to find some other way of saving my precious documents. But at least the photos are now safe. Hopefully I can figure out how the filing system works, otherwise it will be interesting, especially once Ffion uploads her photos, videos and music!
If anyone has any good advice, please help!!!
